Transitional Fall Look Book feat. Tobi

I love this time of year; the air is getting cooler and the holiday season is finally here. I love pretending that a high of 65 degrees is an excuse to pull out the sweaters, scarves and jackets!

Transitional pieces are perfect for this time of year, as the temperature changes everyday. I am loving some specific pieces that I have been able to style in a couple different ways. These types of pieces are probably in most of your closets, so you can recreate these outfit ideas at home!

T-shirt DressI am loving mock neck dresses lately. I have been wearing the heck out of this one from Tobi! It has been such a staple in my fall wardrobe and it is one of the comfiest, most versatile dresses I own. This is probably my favorite item that I received from Tobi!

For an everyday look, I paired it with this maroon jacket from ThredUp, along with my well-loved black ankle booties from Target. For a colder day, I know that I could warm it up with a chunky scarf, riding boots and a warmer jacket!

Twisted-back Sweater: I have seen these types of sweaters everywhere this season, and up until I received this one in the mail, I wasn’t thrilled about the trend! However, now I am hooked.

I am loving the dusty rose color of the sweater and I think it looks great paired with something that is olive green or navy blue! For this look, I kept it simple by pairing it with a pair of straight jeans with distressing on the bottom from Anthropologie (old) and my go-to pair of mules from Qupid shoes.

There are so many ways to dress up this sweater! I would add a chunky necklace, throw a jacket on and change the light-wash denim for a darker, skinnier fit, and keep the shoes for a night out.

High-neck Shift Dress: This dress is the perfect go-to dress for a casual holiday party or special event. It looks so flattering on and again, I am obsessed with the mock-neck/high-neck trend this season.

Also, if you have been following me for a while, you know I am a sucker for a floral print. The colors on this dress are beautiful, too! I added a long cardigan from Target over the dress, to give it a more casual look. I also added my black booties to make it more appropriate for an ordinary winter day in Arizona.

To dress it up, I would pair it with a black moto jacket, black tights and these same ankle boots! DSC_0948.jpg

What are some of your favorite transitional pieces that you wear in both the fall and winter time?

This post was in collaboration with Tobi however all opinions are my own.

Wardrobe Essentials for College

Packing for college? Don’t know what clothes to bring? It can be a bit overwhelming, but have no fear! As a soon-to-be junior in college, I know what clothing pieces have proved to be necessities in my closet and what items are best to leave at home.

First things first: Bring plenty of tee shirts, leggings, Nike shorts, and sweatshirts. Many others have probably already told you that comfy clothes are the name of the game in college, especially in the dorm or at the library, so for this post I decided to focus on items that are more practical for everyday wear and several occasions that can (and will!) come up.

1. Pull-on shorts: These are a part of my everyday uniform in college. While they make you look put together and cute, they are extremely comfortable. In fact, I would compare the comfort level to that of Nike shorts, so I’d call that a win. Mine are from Madewell, but Old Navy  and J. Crew Factory have some great options as well, for a more affordable price. DSC_0654DSC_06902. Everyday Purse: Even though I recently purchased this purse from Old Navy, it has been my go-to bag all summer. It is the perfect size to be able to fit the essentials: my wallet, chapstick, phone, keys and my planner. An everyday cross-body bag, that isn’t overly expensive and therefore can be easily replaced, is a MUST for college! DSC_06693. Versatile tanks and tees: Running to class? Going out to dinner? Hanging out at the library? These are all occasions that I would choose to wear this oh-so-soft striped peplum tank from Anthropologie (which is currently on sale!!). To dress the top up a bit, just add a necktie or a necklace and a nice pair of jeans! DSC_0588DSC_05474. Slip-on Tennis Shoes: While I haven’t been wearing these as much this summer, these shoes are still one of my most worn pairs of shoes. You might be surprised about how many steps you have to take in an average day of college, so comfortable shoes are a necessity. In order to switch it up and look a bit more put together, swap out those Teva sandals or Birkenstocks for a pair of slip-ons. Mine are from Steve Madden but Vans also offers a wide selection. I promise, your feet will thank you later! DSC_05655. Little Black Dress: I cannot tell you how many events and occasions I have worn this dress to! From banquets, to birthday parties to class presentations, this dress has seen it all. Invest in a flattering dress that can be paired with different accessories to create countless outfits! When you are running a little late for your class or dinner date, a dress like this one will help deciding what to wear a breeze. I got this one from Buffalo Exchange, but Forever 21 and H&M have plenty of options. DSC_0628DSC_0620

Style This: One Thrifted Shirt, Three Outfits

I am so excited for today’s post because I am starting a new series called, Style This! I always love reading blog posts where people explain and show how they styled one “problem” piece in their wardrobe or created several outfits from the same clothing item.

I am going to be sharing how I style this top that I got from ThredUp  for under $7 in three separate outfits. (YES, it was $7! You read that right!!)

Outfit #1: A Night Out DSC_0365

I already LOVE this top. It is originally from the brand Blue Rain, which I believe is sold at Francesca’s. The silhouette of the top makes the top look effortless and easy to wear for many occasions. I am a lover of color, but sometimes I like to stick with more neutral pieces, so this item seemed to fit both of those categories!

Jeans: J. Crew Toothpick Jeans // Shoes: Target // Purse: Rebecca Minkoff

Skinny jeans are my jam. In my opinion, they take this otherwise summery outfit from day to night. I added a few of my favorite accessories, including my Rebecca Minkoff purse, some statement earrings, and one of my favorite pairs of sandals to complete the look.

Outfit #2: Sunday Morning

I would wear this outfit on a Sunday, whether I was going to church or out to brunch, or in many cases, both.

DSC_0461If you have followed me for a while, you would know that I love to mix prints. These prints are easy to combine because they are both “cool” tones and they are not too busy. I’ve had this J. Crew skirt, which I thrifted, for a couple years now and it has come in handy for pattern-mixing outfits! Also, blue and white stripes are now a staple in my wardrobe, so I’ve been reaching for this skirt a lot lately.

skirt: J. Crew (thrifted) // shoes: Target

Outfit #3: Running errands

Nothing like a tassel necklace to jazz up an outfit! I love this color combination and how this simple accessory takes this outfit to the next level. I would definitely wear this outfit to work, to the grocery store, or even to class!

necklace: Charming Charlie’s // shorts: Gap (thrifted) // purse: Old Navy

Hope you enjoyed my first post of my new series! Let me know what clothing piece, trend or style you want me to style next!

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

This is one of the first summers in my life that I have been invited to weddings that my parents are not also invited to. In other words, I know couples around my age getting married! How crazy, right?

One of my favorite parts of going to a wedding, aside from watching the groom’s face as the bride walks down the aisle, listening to toasts from the bridal party, and dancing the night away, is figuring out what I am going to wear!

Here are two recreate-able outfit ideas that can be worn to weddings or other summer events, both of which are very affordable.

DSC_0716DSC_0708*glancing over the dessert table like*DSC_0720These shoes are from Saver’s and they are some of my absolute favorite wedges for the summertime. The block heel makes them pretty comfortable too! DSC_0701Turquoise beaded necklace and crochet red dress? Yes please.

I’ve always been a fan of turquoise, but now, bright red is making quite the appearance in my closet. To make this outfit more casual and to combat those chilly summer nights, (it’s chilly somewhere, right?) I would pair this outfit with a denim jacket.

On a different note, let’s talk about this jumpsuit for a bit.

DSC_0845 (1)

I am IN LOVE with jumpsuits. If I could, I would wear them all day everyday. I have basically been living in this one and wearing it for different occasions, such as going out to dinner and running errands, and I have gotten so many compliments! I think that jumpsuits are a great option for wedding guest attire, especially in the summertime.

This jumpsuit is from Old Navy–they are seriously stepping it up this season.

I chose to keep my jewelry to a minimum, with my favorite wrap bracelet and brown Fossil watch. I also am wearing some coral dangly earrings that I have had forever from Target to add a pop of color.  DSC_0849 (1)DSC_0903 (1)These shoes are also from Old Navy. I’m obsessed with these shoes–I wear them all the time and I would recommend them to anyone!

You’ll most likely catch me in one of these outfits for my upcoming events! What’s your go-to outfit for a summer wedding/event?

Making a Simple Statement

I’ve been obsessed with statement jewelry lately. And while I will always be a fan, the bright-colored tassel earrings and layered, beaded necklaces are difficult to incorporate into my everyday outfits.

However, I have become so accustomed to wearing jewelry, that I feel like I am not completely ready for the day without it. A dainty necklace, a simple bracelet and gold stud earrings can make me feel and look polished. That’s why I am loving these jewelry pieces from Castillo & Co!

I’ve worn these necklaces non-stop–to work, to the grocery store, to the gym, to photoshoots…EVERYWHERE! I love layering dainty necklaces and that is how I styled them here.

Faux Suede Bracelet/Necklace $12

This two-in-one braided piece is so fun! I chose to wear it as a wrap bracelet for this outfit, but it could also work as a chocker. I’m loving the different shades of blue and the gold clasp–it makes it easy to take the bracelet on and off!

Swarovski Crystal Birthstone Necklace Bar $15

3 Tone (Silver, Rose Gold, Gold) Necklace (16″) $15

I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of these pieces and how well-made they are! I have not seen any signs of wear and tear, and like I said, I’ve been wearing them a lot lately.

Due to their great quality and their versatility, I would say that they are worth much more than they cost! But to top it all off, with the code Jennifer15 at checkout, you can get 15% off your purchase, for orders placed from now until June 30th! Woohoo!

Happy shopping, and happy Wednesday!

*These pieces were sent to me, but all opinions are my own*

P.S. Not wearing makeup to photoshoots is weird, but it is also very freeing. 10/10 would recommend. 🙂

Gift Idea for Grads, Mothers & Friends

If you follow any fashion or lifestyle bloggers on Instagram, it is likely that you have already seen Jord watches and their unique timepieces at least once or twice! In my personal opinion, all the raving reviews have got it right: Jord sells high-quality, one-of-a-kind watches and their wide variety could fit with anyone’s personal style!

This watch is a timeless gift idea, for a recent graduate, a mother or father, or a loved one. While Mother’s Day is just around the corner, I do not know of any moms who would refuse this generous and beautiful gift any time of the year. (Plus, who says mothers should only be appreciated on Mother’s Day?)  Jord watches also gives you the option to engrave your watch, which allows you to make the gift even more personal.

I was absolutely thrilled when Jord Watches reached out to me to review their watch as well as offer a smokin’ deal to all of you!

My favorite part of this watch is the unique wooden band. It comes in many different handcrafted and natural woods, including Zebrawood, Maple, Bamboo, Sandlewood, and more! Jord watches sells women’s and men’s watches, in a variety of styles and color combinations. I chose the Frankie 35 series watch with a Zebrawood band with the Champagne colored watch face.

DSC_0001I almost always wear a watch for several reasons: it adds a simple accessory to an outfit and makes me feel more put together while being functional. This Jord watch can serve as statement piece of jewelry, but it also goes with everything in my wardrobe! I’ve received several compliments on it and many questions about where I got it, as it is not a watch that you see around everyday.

Let’s stop and take a moment to talk about this packaging! Isn’ it stunning and oh-so-classy? The wooden box serves as the perfect storage for this watch and other jewelry pieces as well. Just from opening the shipping box, it is clear to see how detail-oriented this company is!

The overall brand and contacts at Jord are also very accommodating and friendly, and it is clear to see how much they value their customers individually. They offer a payment plan at checkout, a print-out size chart to ensure that your watch fits your wrist upon arrival, and free shipping world wide!

Lastly, they are giving you all a chance to get one of these watches for yourself or as a gift, at a discounted price, through such an easy and simple giveaway!

One lucky winner will be able to receive a $100 e-giftcard to spend on any of Jord’s products! The coolest part is that ANYONE who enters the contest will recieve $25 off their purchase of a watch! Yes, that does mean that EVERYONE IS A WINNER!

Let me know what style and color you are thinking of buying, and if it is for yourself or if you are planning on giving it as a gift! Good luck everyone 🙂

Love, Jennifer

*While I am collaborating with Jord watches, this is a review with my unbiased and honest opinions!*

P.S. Thanks to Jord for the support, the opportunity to collaborate with such an awesome brand, and for this gorgeous watch that I don’t ever want to take off my wrist 🙂

Luxury Wooden Watch

One Dress, Three Outfits

While shopping, a new goal of mine is to be able to determine if I will be able to wear the item in at least two different ways with pieces I already own. As I stumbled across this dress in the sale section at Urban Outfitters, I knew that this versatile piece would be great for this spring and summer.

With college and high school graduations, grad parties and other occasions around the corner, I thought it would be beneficial to show how I would style this dress in three unique ways.

Dress: Urban Outfitters (sold out, similar, similar) Shoes: Saver’s Thrift Store

I would wear this outfit if I were going to a classy event, such as an intimate graduation ceremony or a nice dinner. Plus, this entire outfit cost me less than $50! 🙂

Necklace: Forever 21 (old, similar)

I would wear this next outfit to an outdoor graduation ceremony or to a grad party! I love this bright color combo and how fun this necklace is! You’ll most likely see me wear it all summer long, as I have already paired it with so many outfits.

I would wear this next outfit anywhere–to church on Sunday morning, to brunch, to class, to work, legitimately ANYWHERE. Nothing like a jean jacket to dress down a classy dress 🙂

Jean Jacket: Levi’s (Local Consignment Store) Shoes: Target

What’s your go-to dress this season and how are you styling it?

Three things to remind yourself today: you are loved, you are beautiful, you are capable.
